About the position

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor (FSQA) is responsible for overseeing quality assurance functions in the QA lab and production floor, assisting the Food Safety Manager with environmental monitoring programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves conducting audits, monitoring product quality, and managing QA staff to maintain high standards of food safety and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct or supervise regular daily, weekly, and monthly audits to identify any potential non-compliance or risk areas.
  • Oversee quality checks on products at various stages of production to ensure they meet company standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all records of quality checks, non-compliance incidents, corrective actions, and audit results are properly recorded.
  • Oversee the testing for physical properties and ensure that products meet company specifications.
  • Oversee pre-operational inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure that all products meet customer specifications and quality expectations.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of QA staff, providing feedback and additional training as needed.
  • Ensure all staff members follow personal hygiene, food handling, and safety protocols to prevent contamination and accidents.
  • Work with production teams to streamline operations and ensure that quality is maintained without compromising efficiency.
  • Ensure that all testing and inspection equipment is calibrated, functioning properly, and routinely maintained.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by FSQA Management to support overall food safety and quality assurance objectives.

Requirements

  • Previous knowledge in Quality Assurance or related experience (1-3 years).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to maximize time management and problem resolution.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft, APTEN, ROSS, and ability to learn new programs as required.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and BRC or other manufacturing quality programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or food science.
  • Certification in HACCP, BRC, PCQI, or SQF.
