About the position

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in food safety and quality management within a food production facility. This role involves monitoring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Critical Control Points (CCPs) throughout the food process flow, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for food production.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the FSQA Manager to implement FSQA systems, programs, processes, and procedures across production facilities and distribution hub.
  • Monitor and conduct food safety audits of production facilities to ensure compliance with food safety programs and standards.
  • Monitor facility GMP compliance, including access control to the ware washroom and ensuring proper use of PPE by employees.
  • Observe hand washing practices and correct non-compliance by employees.
  • Ensure sanitation and cleanliness on the production floor.
  • Document and report findings to the FSQA Manager and involve Production leaders when necessary.
  • Report and assist with correcting unsanitary conditions in food preparation and storage areas.
  • Ensure production floor compliance with sanitizer availability and usage by employees.
  • Monitor employee movement according to established path of travel protocols.
  • Handle environmental swabbing at production sites as directed by the FSQA Manager.
  • Document, trend results, and establish corrective action reports for swabbing results.
  • Curate, present, and follow up on Food Safety Trainings for production teams.
  • Oversee the ATP program and ensure QC adheres to the swabbing routine.
  • Track and trend customer complaints and assist in investigating food claims.
  • Assist the FSQA Manager in Food Safety training and documentation of trainings.
  • Assist in document control and management, and review CCP records and pest control reports.
  • Work with FSQA Manager during mock recalls and maintain procedures for product recalls.
  • Collaborate with culinary production and QC to resolve food safety incidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance in a food production/manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP certification is required.
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA, and NJ Department of Health regulations is needed.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to implement SOPs and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize efficiently.
