About The Position
The Food Science Co-op position at ICL Specialty Products Inc. is designed for students pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. This co-op opportunity will require candidates to work 40 hours per week in-person, providing a hands-on experience in the food ingredients division. The role emphasizes applications research across various sectors, including bakery, beverage, dairy, alternative protein, and meat products. Students typically take a full semester off from school or enroll in a reduced online or night class schedule during the length of their co-op, which is offered for the Spring/Summer and Summer/Fall semesters of 2025. In this position, co-op students will assist in research and applications work for food applications that involve various functional ingredients. They will conduct data analysis and provide interpretation, drawing conclusions from a variety of microbiological, chemical, and physical tests. Basic analytical testing, such as pH, texture analysis, water activity, moisture, and viscosity, will be conducted to support product development and applications work. Additionally, maintaining lab operations and relevant performance data is crucial, which includes keeping lab areas and equipment calibrated, clean, and operational. Participation in site safety activities is also expected, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience working on meaningful projects that impact the company. Co-op students will have exposure to senior leadership and the potential for a full-time job offer upon completion of their studies. ICL provides relocation and housing assistance for those living more than 50 miles from the ICL location, along with paid holidays and volunteering opportunities, all within a casual dress environment.
