About the position

The Food Scientist position at Persistent Systems involves supporting the Regulatory Affairs team in ensuring compliance with food industry regulations. The role focuses on collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate new product launches and maintain existing products, with a strong emphasis on regulatory content for labeling and compliance guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve formulas and ingredients for compliance with applicable regulations and in context of approved claims.
  • Analyze product formulations to verify compliance.
  • Create final Label Content, including substantiated claims, compliant nutrition facts & ingredient statements as well as all other U.S. and/or Canada mandated label content.
  • Review finished product labels to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide support for Regulatory data maintenance projects.
  • Research applicable regulations to confidently substantiate claims requested by business teams.
  • Build positive relationships and become a liaison with division/department colleagues.

Requirements

  • Minimum B.S. in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Nutrition, etc.
  • Regulatory experience in food industry is a MUST.
  • A minimum of 6 months to 5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs of a Consumer Products Company with working knowledge of U.S. FDA labeling regulations as published in 21 CFR Parts 1-199.
  • Exceptional team player with willingness and propensity for collaboration and relationship building.
  • Ability to anticipate and address issues in a proactive manner.
  • Strong multi-tasking and project management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Passion for learning and ability to listen and accept critical feedback.
