About the position

The Food Service Assistant (OPS) position at the Florida Public Safety Institute involves supporting the food service operations by preparing and cooking various food items, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and serving patrons. This part-time role requires adherence to food safety and sanitation standards while working under the supervision of the Food Service Director and Shift Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meats, vegetables, soups, gravies, and potatoes.
• Prepare baked goods, sauces, salad items, and soups.
• Set oven temperatures and monitor cooking times.
• Operate ovens and grills.
• Clean equipment and utensils, maintaining sanitary conditions in work and storage areas.
• Clean grills, stoves, ovens, cooking vats, and serving areas.
• Serve patrons at food counters.

Requirements

• One year of experience serving, preparing, and/or cooking food items.
• Knowledge of basic food service safety and sanitation procedures and requirements.
• Skill in operating and maintaining food preparation equipment.
• Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to prioritize and complete work.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to make independent decisions or judgments.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Benefits

• Starting salary of $15.00 per hour based on experience.
• Part-time work schedule of 25 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
