About the position

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for various tasks related to food preparation and service in a healthcare setting. This role includes monitoring food temperatures, maintaining cleanliness in the serving area, preparing and serving food items, and ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines. The position emphasizes customer service and effective communication with patrons and co-workers, while also maintaining quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record proper temperature of food.
  • Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area.
  • Prepare and serve food items.
  • Restock food areas as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment used in food service.
  • Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register.
  • Comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers.
  • Establish effective working relationships with team members.
  • Maintain quality control standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in retail counting and reconciliation of money is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food service is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform basic math.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in the food industry.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
