About the position
The Food Service Associate at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality food service to patients as part of the Food and Nutrition team. This full-time position requires working day shifts, including every other weekend and holiday rotations. The role involves processing diet orders, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Process diet orders and changes for assigned patients.
- Assist in floor stock maintenance for assigned units.
- Participate in tray assembly, delivery, and retrieval, and clean the kitchen and patient trays after meal service.
- Participate in cold food production.
- Visit patient rooms to obtain verbal menu selections efficiently and pleasantly.
- Communicate effectively with dieticians, shift leaders, or managers regarding patient comments or concerns.
- Assist in food preparation, including assembling prepared food for service, preparing salads, desserts, and nourishments, and storing food according to HACCP standards.
- Maintain HACCP Infection Control guidelines.
- Demonstrate equipment safety with kitchen tools such as meat slicers, coffee urns, can openers, and dishwashers.
Requirements
- Experience in food service or a related field.
- Knowledge of HACCP standards and infection control guidelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
