About the position

As a Food Service Cashier at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service in our culinary and nutrition department. This position involves performing cashiering duties and ensuring a high-quality experience for our customers in retail areas, including coffee service. You will be responsible for preparing and serving quality hot drinks, accurately collecting cash, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at all assigned stations. Your role is crucial in creating a welcoming environment for patients, hospital staff, and visitors, ensuring that all interactions are positive and professional. The hours for this full-time position typically run from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM for opening shifts and from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM for closing shifts. Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to work both opening and closing shifts as needed. The ideal candidate will possess effective interpersonal communication skills, a friendly customer service attitude, and the ability to quickly and accurately handle cash transactions. Previous experience as a barista is a plus, as it will enhance your ability to serve our customers effectively. Responsibilities

  • Accurately record all sales in the Point of Sale System and transact payments with customers.
  • Store, count, deposit, and maintain register cash and receivables in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all assigned stations, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and attractive at all times.
  • Provide service to customers, meeting standards and guidelines, and respond to customer complaints to assist with problem resolution.
  • Perform cleaning, stocking, sign maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Friendly customer service attitude.
  • Ability to accurately calculate and count change rapidly and repetitively.
  • Good reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required.
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale cash register system, beverage brewing and/or dispensing equipment, and cleaning equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
