About the position
The Food Service Chef will collaborate with the Food Service Director to oversee all aspects of food service operations, focusing on creating and providing healthy meals for students. This role involves menu development, cooking, staff coordination, and nutritional education, ensuring compliance with USDA guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop recipes and menu items for all buildings following the USDA National School Lunch Guidelines
- Cook main entrées and hot side options for all grades/buildings
- Coordinate the assistant cook duties
- Assist with nutritional education to all grades/buildings
- Assist with ordering food and supplies
- Maintain production records
- Assist in the supervision, training and evaluation of food service staff
- Perform all other duties assigned by the Food Service Director
Requirements
- Minimum two-year degree from a culinary program
- Advanced cooking, recipe and food knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of HACCP principles; Serve Safe Certification desired
