About the position

The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for overseeing food preparation and service operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, sanitation codes, and health standards. This role involves menu planning, cooking, managing kitchen budgets, and maintaining inventory, while also supervising staff and conducting performance appraisals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan food preparation and service.
  • Prepare menus and cook meals for large groups.
  • Inspect kitchen areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and health standards.
  • Prepare work schedules for kitchen staff.
  • Manage the kitchen budget and estimate food costs.
  • Initiate requisitions and maintain proper inventory of kitchen items.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the working environment, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Maintain documents, reports, and records as required.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for kitchen staff.
  • Attend meetings and training related to food service and preparation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in large scale institutional cooking, with one year in a supervisory role.
  • Possess a Food Handler's Permit.
  • Valid state driver's license.
