About the position

The Food Service Coordinator at Active Day is responsible for preparing and serving meals tailored to the dietary needs of members, ensuring a clean and sanitary food service environment. This role emphasizes teamwork, positivity, and a commitment to enhancing the health and happiness of those served. The position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to participate in various benefits programs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for members, paying close attention to special diets.
  • Order from the vendor per weekly meal count or order needed food for meal preparation using guidelines from the Center Director.
  • Take food temperatures before serving meals, ensuring the thermometer is calibrated.
  • Record temperature readings for refrigerator, freezer, and water daily.
  • Document daily and monthly required information for the food program if CACFP.
  • Ensure compliance with CACFP and any state-specific regulations.
  • Clean the kitchen daily, washing all dishes, pots, and pans with proper sanitizer dilution.
  • Wipe down all counters, refrigerators, and maintain kitchen organization.
  • Clean the dining area by wiping tables and vacuuming/mopping the kitchen/dining room floor daily.
  • Prepare for the next day by removing necessary items from the freezer and checking attendance schedules.
  • Create kitchen/shopping lists as needed and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of food service sanitation and proper food handling.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use proper judgment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing, and any other state-specific requirements.
  • Ability to read menus and recipes or ingredients.
