About the position

The Food Service Customer Service Associate plays a crucial role in assisting with the preparation and serving of meals in a school environment. This position involves direct interaction with students, staff, and parents, ensuring that meals are served efficiently and in compliance with health and safety regulations. The associate will operate cash registers, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, and support the overall objective of providing nutritious meals to students.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation as assigned by the manager or PPA.
• Set up serving line and assist with meal service.
• Operate cash register/point of sale device during serving periods as needed.
• Operate miscellaneous kitchen/cafeteria equipment.
• Operate a dish machine.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces and kitchen equipment as needed throughout the day.
• Follow Health Department safety procedures and policies.
• Attend workshops and training sessions as required.
• Wear the assigned uniform and all proper PPE's, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
• Assist in maintaining organized storage of dry goods, refrigerated, and frozen products.
• Assist in proper labeling, dating, and product rotation in dry storage, coolers, and freezers.
• Maintain pace of kitchen and have a sense of urgency.
• Serve customers in a friendly, respectful, and efficient manner.
• Collect and report quantities used, amounts produced, amounts left over, and meal counts accurately in compliance with government regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of serving nutritious meals.

Requirements

• Knowledge and basic skills of institutional quantity food production.
• Communication skills with students, staff, parents, and the public.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Mathematics skills and cashier experience preferred.
