About the position

The Food Service Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of a single-site food service operation within a correctional facility. This role includes managing both operational and financial aspects of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards, and supervising a team that includes an Assistant Food Service Director and Food Service Supervisors or Cooks. The position requires a focus on delivering safe and timely food services to inmates while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate food service operations in a correctional facility.
  • Supervise the Assistant Food Service Director and/or a team of Food Service Supervisors and Cooks.
  • Ensure safe and timely delivery of food products to customers.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area, complying with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Work in the pharmacy area, following SOPs for cleaning and disinfecting tools and work areas.

Requirements

  • Five years of management or supervisory experience in a food service environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Knowledge and experience in kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
  • Basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
