About the position

The Food Service Worker position at Richfield Elementary School is a part-time role focused on preparing and serving meals while ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen. The worker will report to an assigned administrator or supervisor and is expected to maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation, support dietary needs of students, and contribute to a positive working environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food according to standardized recipes.
• Maintains an orderly and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Assumes duties of the head cook during their absence.
• Assists with the receipt of deliveries and verifies quantities.
• Follows approved food safety procedures and complies with USDA child nutrition guidelines.
• Organizes, stores, dates, and rotates stock as directed.
• Sets up serving lines and ensures attractive presentation of food.
• Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces, equipment, and dining areas.
• Operates commercial kitchen equipment, including the dishwasher.
• Maintains open and effective communication with co-workers and supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer proficiency or commitment to acquire job-related technology skills.
• Ability to lift/move materials weighing up to twenty-five pounds.
• Flexibility, reliability, and self-discipline in performing tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in food service or kitchen operations.
