About the position

The Food Service Shift Leader at Break Time Convenience Store is responsible for assisting in the management and operations of food service programs. This role serves as an entry point into management, enforcing high standards for food preparation, cleanliness, and adherence to company policies to ensure efficient operations during scheduled shifts. The Shift Leader is expected to provide excellent customer service, manage food safety, and supervise staff while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently greet and thank customers, providing fast and friendly service.
  • Handle customer complaints quickly and courteously.
  • Promote sales through suggestive selling techniques.
  • Follow guidelines and recipes for food preparation and execution.
  • Monitor product inspection for correct temperatures, cleanliness, and rotation.
  • Maintain appropriate food service inventory levels and monitor duty checklists.
  • Order authorized products from approved sources and ensure proper storage.
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment, dishes, and food service areas.
  • Assist in managing food service operations, including profitability and expense control.
  • Supervise and train employees on food service programs and company policies.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and management.
  • Recommend employee actions to the Food Service Manager and assist in training new employees.
  • Work as a team to adhere to regulations and store operations.
  • Utilize store technology and perform necessary calculations.

Requirements

  • Prior food service experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Flexible availability including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable transportation to work.
  • Willingness to attend food safety training and obtain a Food Handler's Card.
  • ServeSafe certified or able to complete the course and pass the test.
  • Physical ability to move products in cold environments and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for transactions and reports.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and operate office machinery.
  • Willingness to occasionally use ladders for inventory handling.
  • Ability to perform duties with accuracy and minimal supervision.
