About the position

The Food Services Shift Supervisor at Brooks Correctional Facility is responsible for overseeing food service operations, including the preparation and serving of meals for the facility's population. This role involves managing subordinate staff and training prisoner workers, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards, safe food handling practices, and sanitation requirements. The supervisor collaborates with custody staff to maintain safety and security within the correctional environment.

Responsibilities

• Directly oversee and manage the preparation and serving of three meals daily.
• Supervise subordinate staff and train prisoner workers in quantity food service preparation.
• Ensure adherence to policy directives and State-Wide menu.
• Maintain compliance with nutritional standards and safe food handling practices.
• Ensure proper sanitation and environmental safety requirements are met.
• Collaborate with custody staff to ensure safety and security within the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of experience overseeing quantity cooking and food preparation tasks equivalent to a Cook.
• Three years equivalent to a Cook E6 or two years equivalent to a Cook 7.
• Possession of an associate's degree in dietetics, food services management, or related field may substitute for experience requirements.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in dietetics, food services management, or related field may substitute for experience requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a correctional facility food service environment.
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets.
