The role also requires cleaning and storing kitchen equipment after use, maintaining a well-organized workspace. The worker may assist in food preparation activities such as preparing sandwiches, mixing salads, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables. There may also be occasions where the worker acts as a cashier, which includes counting cash receipts and maintaining simple records. This position is essential in providing quality food service to the school community and requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Clean serving counters, tables, chairs, food containers, and other equipment.
• Operate dishwasher and wash trays, plates, utensils, and other serving equipment.
• Assist in setting up food preparation lines.
• Heat, set up, sell and serve food to students and faculty.
• Clean and store kitchen equipment.
• Assist in preparing sandwiches, mixing salads, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables.
• Act as cashier, including counting cash receipts and maintaining simple records.

Requirements

• Some food service experience preferred.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Knowledge of basic methods of preparing and serving foods in large quantities.
• Familiarity with standard food service appliances and equipment.
• Ability to operate a variety of food service equipment.
• Ability to collect money and make change accurately.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to use new equipment and technology as it becomes required.

• Willingness to be trained and to substitute in the Lead Food Service School Worker I or II position.
