The Food Service Worker I position at East Whittier City School District is a part-time role that involves various responsibilities related to food service in an educational setting. Responsibilities

  • Clean serving counters, tables, chairs, food containers, and other equipment.
  • Operate dishwasher and wash trays, plates, utensils, and other serving equipment.
  • Assist in setting up food preparation lines.
  • Heat, set up, sell and serve food to students and faculty.
  • Clean and store kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in preparing sandwiches, mixing salads, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables.
  • Act as cashier, including counting cash receipts and maintaining simple records.

Requirements

  • Some food service experience preferred.
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Knowledge of basic methods of preparing and serving foods in large quantities.
  • Familiarity with standard food service appliances and equipment.
  • Ability to operate a variety of food service equipment.
  • Ability to collect money and make change accurately.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to use new equipment and technology as it becomes required.

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Willingness to be trained and to substitute in the Lead Food Service School Worker I or II position.
