Responsibilities
- Prepares, seasons, cooks, and bakes food items according to menus and dietary restrictions.
- Trains food service staff in food preparation, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning.
- Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment and oversees the cleaning of kitchen or dining areas.
- Maintains kitchen and dining room records and may order, receive, store, and distribute food supplies.
- Trains and monitors youth workers in food preparation and maintaining sanitary conditions.
- Assists with menu planning and performs administrative tasks related to food service management.
- Monitors and reports on youth's attendance and behavior and performs security tasks as required.
- Assists food service management in scheduling and distributing work assignments.
Requirements
- Coursework, training, and/or experience in food preparation, baking, and/or kitchen operations in the food service industry or related field.
- Knowledge of kitchen and dining room safety practices, special diets, recipes, and cooking techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facility residents and co-workers, train staff, and prepare complex recipes.
Nice-to-haves
