About the position
The Food Service Worker position at the Developmental Disabilities - Warrensville Developmental Center involves serving food to consumers, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, and assisting in food preparation and inventory control. This role is essential in ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities receive nutritious meals in a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve hot and cold foods to consumers, including setting up food carts with appropriate supplies and utensils.
- Clean kitchen equipment such as microwaves, refrigerators, and ovens, and maintain cleanliness by mopping floors and emptying trash.
- Prepare foods by cleaning and preparing vegetables and fruits, making sandwiches and salads, and ensuring timely storage of food supplies.
- Oversee and assist in service setup, providing direction to staff and consumers on food portioning and serving.
- Transport or assist with the transportation of food and working materials.
Requirements
- Formal education in reading and speaking common English vocabulary.
- Formal education in arithmetic, including addition and subtraction of whole numbers.
- Ability to perform unskilled labor tasks as determined by the Director of Administrative Services.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in food service or kitchen operations.
