About the position

The Food Services Assistant at Philhaven is responsible for performing a variety of routine duties related to food preparation, serving, and cleanup. This role emphasizes outstanding customer service to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring that food is prepared and served according to established procedures. The position requires flexibility as it operates on a PRN (as needed) basis, with no guaranteed hours.

Responsibilities

• Works on central tray line and assists with patient tray set up and preparation.
• Sets up and serves patient trays in accordance with established schedule and procedures.
• Prepares, loads, transports, and cleans food carts.
• Prepares and sets up steam table, serving line and menu board.
• Obtains and places dishes, serving utensils, hot and cold foods, baked goods, beverages, desserts, and condiments.
• Reviews menu and prep sheets and assembles food and supplies as needed for daily salad and cold foods preparation.
• Prepares salad mixes and sandwich spreads such as tuna, chicken and egg salad.
• Prepares salad plates and tossed salads by portioning out mixes and adding salad vegetables.
• Prepares sandwiches, subs, wraps, salads and specialty items as directed.
• Prepares hand crafted beverages and specialty drinks as directed.
• Washes and cuts vegetables and fruits according to procedures.
• Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
• Carries dishes and foods between kitchen and serving lines and serves food as directed.
• Operates dishwasher or manually washes all dishes and utensils in accordance to established policies and procedures.
• Participates in post-meal cleanup tasks as assigned or directed.
• Collects, processes, and disposes of trash, cans, bottles, and similar debris and transports to disposal area.

Requirements

• None Less Than High School education required.
• Up to 1 month experience required.
• Ability to read, write, understand and speak English at a level which enables the individual to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.
• Excellent interpersonal/communications skills and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
