About the position

The Food Services Coordinator at Bethany Christian Services is responsible for preparing meals and snacks for residential programs, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This role involves moderate supervision and requires adherence to agency, state, and federal guidelines while providing quality food service to residents and staff events.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare residential meals, snacks, and desserts for special events and meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen in accordance with Health Department standards.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and well-maintained.
  • Provide quality food service to all Bethany Residential programs and staff events.
  • Maintain recipes and digital daily records for meal production, temperatures, and sanitation.
  • Order or purchase needed supplies and account for supplies received from wholesalers.
  • Meet regularly with the supervisor to discuss menu and catering events.
  • Attend required training and conferences and apply knowledge on the job.
  • Communicate with community resources as needed.
  • Provide catering services to other programs while prioritizing resident needs.
  • Offer opportunities for residents to assist in the kitchen as requested.
  • Serve as a role model and provide skill-building to youth.
  • Stay informed about residents' dietary restrictions and meal preparation needs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or a similar field from an accredited college.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience in food services (preferred).
  • Possess and maintain ServSafe and ServSafe Allergens Certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of religious and cultural concerns related to food services for refugee programs.
