About the position

The Food Services Supervisor position at the Macomb Correctional Facility is responsible for overseeing food service operations, including the preparation and serving of meals for the facility's population. This role involves managing subordinate staff and prisoner workers, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards, safe food handling practices, and sanitation requirements. The supervisor collaborates with custody staff to maintain safety and security within the correctional environment.

Responsibilities

• Directly oversee and manage the preparation and serving of three meals daily.
• Train subordinate staff and prisoner workers in quantity food service preparation and serving.
• Ensure adherence to policy directives and State-Wide menu.
• Maintain compliance with nutritional standards and safe food handling practices.
• Supervise the work of subordinate Cooks and indirectly supervise prisoner workforce.
• Collaborate with custody staff to ensure safety and security in the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of experience overseeing quantity cooking and food preparation tasks equivalent to a Cook.
• Three years equivalent to a Cook E6 or two years equivalent to a Cook 7.
• Possession of an associate's degree in dietetics, food services management, or related field may substitute for experience.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in dietetics, food services management, or related field may substitute for experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a correctional facility food service environment.
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets.
