About the position

The Sales Representative position at Performance Foodservice focuses on developing independent account business in the Knoxville, TN area. The role emphasizes profitability through new sales and account penetration, promoting company-branded products, and supporting customer service activities for regional and national chain customers. The representative will work closely with customers to enhance their operations and ensure satisfaction while contributing to the overall growth of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Generates additional business through analyzing sales territory and individual customers.
  • Samples products with existing and potential customers.
  • Plans general sales strategy including time and territory management.
  • Plans sales approach with individual customers and conducts effective sales presentations.
  • Grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing and working with the Credit Department for initial authorization.
  • Performs initial follow-up work with customers ensuring delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing exemplary service and coordinating efforts to prevent and resolve customer problems.
  • May be responsible for making deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability of individual accounts.
  • Monitors accounts for compliance with credit terms and follows up on any problems.
  • Maintains awareness of pricing trends within sales territory to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 1 year restaurant management experience
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean MVR
  • Must live in Knoxville, TN or be within a 45 minute drive of the territory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Sales/Marketing, or related area
  • 1-2 years foodservice sales/marketing and/or restaurant management experience
