About the position

The Football Coach position at Rowan-Salisbury Schools is a part-time role responsible for overseeing the athletic program for the football team. The coach will work under the head coach and athletic director, ensuring the implementation of athletic policies and fostering a positive environment for student athletes. The role requires a strong commitment to sportsmanship, community engagement, and the development of student athletes both on and off the field.

Responsibilities

  • Implement athletic policies approved by the Rowan Salisbury Schools Board of Education.
  • Ensure compliance with system, state, and league regulations.
  • Maintain proper administrative lines of command for requests and grievances.
  • Attend all required public/staff/departmental meetings.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by assistants.
  • Design and conduct conferences, clinics, and staff meetings for staff awareness.
  • Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth and clinic attendance.
  • Delegate specific duties and supervise implementation of tasks by assistants.
  • Analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate all assistants at season's end.
  • Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation among staff and athletes.
  • Provide safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Advise the head coach on policy, method, or procedural changes.
  • Mentor student athletes in character development and academic performance.
  • Monitor student athletes' grades and conduct, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide training rules, schedules, and regulations to athletes and their parents.
  • Follow policies regarding injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
  • Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
  • Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
  • Accountable for all equipment and its proper maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Promote the sport within the school and community through recruitment and public relations.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in football is preferable.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of football.
  • Ability to serve as a role model for student athletes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring student athletes.
  • Knowledge of community engagement strategies for sports programs.
