About the position

The Footwear Sales Team Lead at Bass Pro Shops is responsible for guiding and directing associates within the footwear department to achieve sales and operational goals. This role involves overseeing merchandise presentation, inventory control, and customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers while supporting the Group Sales Manager and Department Manager in various departmental functions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the GSM/DM in achieving departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll goals.
  • Provide daily direction to associates within the department.
  • Prepare to-do/task lists for associates.
  • Execute all merchandising directives and maintain plan-o-grams as set by the Corporate Office.
  • Ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Assist in staffing the department with service-oriented associates and participate in interviewing and training.
  • Coordinate training and prepare weekly work schedules for associates.
  • Coach and motivate associates to promote positive customer relations and a productive team-oriented work environment.
  • Resolve customer and associate issues in collaboration with GSM/DM and HR Manager.
  • Maintain a high level of personal customer service and achieve better than company average customer service results.
  • Remain a product expert through ongoing product knowledge training and conduct product demos for staff.
  • Assist with coordination of special events and maintain pricing and inventory integrity.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in retail sales required.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
