About The Position

The Design & Release Engineer for Air Induction Systems at Ford Motor Company is responsible for the design and release of powertrain systems and components for future Ford Performance vehicles. This role requires a strong foundation in powertrain design, release, and systems engineering, with a focus on air induction systems. The position is full-time and based in Allen Park, Michigan, with some flexibility for remote work. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferred)
  • Master's degree in automotive systems or equivalent (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in component design and release, specifically for air induction systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a systems engineer, including functional ownership and validation
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with Ford systems (TeamCenter/Catia, VisMockUp, etc.) is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project for program management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Six Sigma tools and processes
  • Familiarity with automotive systems engineering tools and methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and release systems engineer for air induction systems in powertrain development.
  • Manage the design and release of components and subsystems, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Interface with various teams including program management, attribute teams, and suppliers to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Support prototype and launch builds of Ford Performance vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities.
  • Utilize failure mode avoidance tools and engineering statements of work to manage design processes.
  • Lead discussions and coordinate efforts with other engineers and management to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Deliver powertrain systems engineering solutions that meet quality, function, cost, weight, and timing targets.
