About the position

Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization that provides an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional and behavioral disorders. The goal is to empower these students to overcome challenges and create new narratives in their lives. Currently, BHA is seeking a dedicated Spanish Foreign Language Teacher to join their team. This position is essential in encouraging students to develop their knowledge and skills in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing the Spanish language while broadening their understanding of Spanish culture. As a Spanish Foreign Language Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing students daily on the knowledge and skills of the Spanish language. This includes teaching students about various aspects of Spanish culture, such as geography, food, and holidays. You will create and implement weekly lesson plans tailored to the needs of your students and assess and report on their performance regularly. Additionally, you will research and incorporate special tools and programs to promote an engaging learning environment. Collaboration is key in this role; you will coordinate with administration to create individualized learning plans for students and communicate with parents, home districts, and staff regarding students' progress. Tracking academic and behavioral goal performance for signs of progress is also a critical part of your responsibilities. You will work one-on-one with students who need extra help, establish and enforce rules of behavior in the classroom, and create clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Maintaining a positive relationship with other staff members is essential to provide a supportive learning environment for students. You will also need to adapt your teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse interests and learning styles of your students, acting as a strong leader and motivator throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students daily on the knowledge and skills of the Spanish language.

  • Maintain a positive relationship with other staff to provide a positive learning environment for the student.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students.
  • Be a strong leader and motivator to students.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania Foreign Language Teaching Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish or related field.
  • Experience from a previous school or agency is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
  • Must report to work regularly and punctually.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
