About the position

The Foreign Patent Prosecution Paralegal position at Jones Networking involves managing foreign patent applications and serving as a key liaison between clients and foreign associates. The paralegal will be responsible for preparing and processing various patent applications, including PCT International Applications and National Phase applications, ensuring compliance with foreign patent rules and procedures. The position also entails monitoring application statuses, preparing conversion deadline letters, and providing cost estimates to clients. Additionally, the paralegal will handle formality documents for filing with Foreign Patent Offices and coordinate with annuity services to ensure timely renewal payments for client patents. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in IP foreign filing, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of PCT and foreign patent rules. Strong communication skills are essential, as the paralegal will need to effectively interact with clients and foreign law firms. The role demands excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as the paralegal will manage multiple deadlines and ensure that all client needs are met in a timely manner. This position is hybrid remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while maintaining a full-time schedule of 37.50 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Manage foreign patent applications
  • Communicate with clients and foreign associates regarding patent applications
  • Prepare conversion deadline letters to clients and prepare cost estimates
  • Prepare PCT International Applications and process PCT Forms from WIPO
  • Prepare National Applications and PCT National Phase applications for forwarding to Foreign Associates
  • Monitor applications and report to clients
  • Prepare formality documents to be filed with Foreign Patent Offices
  • Process Letters Patent documents and notify clients
  • Monitor client patent renewal deadlines ensuring all are paid timely
  • Coordinate with annuity services to monitor and maintain timely payments for the renewal of client patents

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of IP foreign filing experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of PCT and foreign patent rules and procedures
  • Experience researching IP status and history in PTO databases
  • Experience with document management systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
