About the position

The Forensic Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conducting and managing investigations related to machinery and equipment, performing damage assessments, and analyzing root causes of failures. This role involves evaluating mechanical, corrosion, and metallurgical properties, as well as preparing detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations. The engineer will interact with clients and manage multiple projects, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations and evaluations involving machinery and equipment.
  • Perform examination and damage assessment of mechanical equipment, systems, and components.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis.
  • Evaluate mechanical, corrosion, and metallurgical properties.
  • Analyze repair and replacement costs of damaged facilities and equipment.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing analyses and findings.
  • Interact with clients and other consultants.
  • Manage multiple and unique projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in a Southeast State or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 3+ years of forensic investigation and reporting experience.
  • Experience with solar power systems is a plus.
  • Experience giving legal depositions and expert witness experience is a plus.
  • Advanced technical education degrees are a plus.
  • Proficient in computer software such as MathCAD, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Industrial, manufacturing, or design experience.
