About the position

The Forensic Engineer position at Stephens Engineering Consultants, Inc. involves conducting forensic evaluations of various structures and systems, providing expert opinions, and preparing detailed reports. This role offers the opportunity to work outside of a traditional office environment, engage with clients, and contribute to a growing forensic engineering firm.

Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic evaluations of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings for various types of damage including storm-related, moisture intrusion, impact damage, and construction defects.
  • Prepare precise and unbiased written reports based on field inspections and research.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, the engineering team, and the home office regarding daily work.
  • Provide depositions and expert testimony as necessary on assigned work.
  • Adapt to company policy and procedural changes as required.
  • Work additional hours during peak business demand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Active professional engineer (PE) license in the state of employment or ability to obtain within two months.
  • Valid driver's license without travel time restrictions.
  • Ability to type at least 30 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word.
  • Proficient writing skills using proper English spelling and grammar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior forensic engineering experience (not required as training is provided).
  • Prior report writing skills.
