About the position

This position involves providing medical forensic exams to victims of intentional and interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The role is accountable for practicing forensic nursing in accordance with state and national guidelines, as well as the Ohio Revised Code and the International Association of Forensic Nursing (IAFN).

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical forensic exams to victims of violence.
  • Accountable for the practice of forensic nursing as per state and national guidelines.
  • Complete a minimum of 40 hours of didactic training.
  • Perform speculum exams under supervision until competent.
  • Complete three sexual assault exams with an experienced forensic nurse.
  • Commit to being on call for a minimum of 48 hours per month.
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings and continuing educational opportunities.
  • Provide a commitment of two years of service as a forensic nurse after training.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required).
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current RN - Registered Nurse license from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum of one year of service with OhioHealth.
