About The Position

The Forensic Scientist II position in the DNA section of the Columbus Police Crime Laboratory involves examining and processing evidentiary samples for bodily fluids and DNA, analyzing and interpreting DNA data, preparing technical reports, and providing expert testimony in court. The role requires collaboration with detectives and prosecutors, as well as training other forensic scientists and leading laboratory projects, all while adhering to quality assurance and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's or advanced degree in biology, chemistry, or forensic science-related area with specific coursework in forensic science, chemistry, biology, and computer science.
• Three years of recent forensic laboratory experience with authorization to perform DNA Profile Determination and related tasks.
• A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities
