About the position

The Forensic Scientist IV position at Cherokee Federal involves performing forensic DNA analysis to support federal programs. The role requires collaboration with laboratory staff and government stakeholders, and may include responsibilities such as serving as an Assistant Technical Leader and providing expert witness testimony. The successful candidate will prioritize job responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring exceptional results and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of forensic evidence in accordance with laboratory accreditation and standard operating procedures.
• Serve as an Assistant Technical Leader and/or expert witness as required.
• Execute assigned tasks and share findings with project team members.
• Write reports and publications, and present findings in meetings.
• Provide consultation on complex projects.
• Supervise staff performing investigative studies on tissue identification by DNA typing technologies.
• Assist in program maintenance and development at the direction of the designated supervisor.
• Participate in the organization and presentation of educational activities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science-related area.
• Completed twelve semester or equivalent credit hours in biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and statistics or population genetics.
• Minimum of three years of forensic DNA laboratory experience.
• Minimum of three years of human DNA experience as a qualified analyst on forensic samples.
• Experience supporting and leading teams on large-scale projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office products and project management software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with forensic toxicology, medico-legal death investigations, and/or forensic DNA analytical services.
• Experience in DoD forensic program support.
