About the position
The Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E. / S.E. at Haag is responsible for investigating and evaluating the causes and extent of damage resulting from various catastrophes, including natural disasters and construction defects. This role involves working remotely and requires a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team of experts.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate damage from storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, and construction/design defects.
- Write effective reports detailing findings and recommendations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients.
- Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed for investigations.
- Perform physical tasks such as working in confined spaces and on roofs, including carrying ladders and operating equipment.
Requirements
- Must be a licensed P.E. or S.E. in California (or eligible by reciprocity).
- 2+ years of forensic engineering experience preferred.
- Strong technical writing skills for report writing.
- Strong verbal communication skills for effective face-to-face interactions.
- Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, etc.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Nice-to-haves
- Expert Witness experience is a strong plus.
- Experience working on steep roofs is highly preferred.
- A Master of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is highly desirable.
