About the position

The Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E. at EFI Global is responsible for investigating structural failures and providing expert opinions on complex engineering assignments. This remote role requires a strong background in structural engineering design and failure analysis, with a focus on delivering comprehensive engineering analyses to clients across various industries. The position emphasizes collaboration, customer orientation, and professional development within a supportive and flexible work environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the origin and cause of structural failures including roof damage, water intrusion, and post-fire damage.
• Conduct surveys of losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
• Investigate and assess damages due to failures and document the scope of damage caused by acute events.
• Analyze and document failure analysis and causation of failures.
• Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
• Serve as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
• Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects.

Requirements

• Professional Engineering (PE) license in resident state is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
• Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record.
• Experience in structural engineering design and failure analysis.
