About the position

The Foreperson position at Asplundh is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring productivity, and enforcing safety protocols among crew members. This role involves troubleshooting job site issues, conducting training, and managing crew performance while maintaining good customer relations. The Foreperson plays a crucial role in the utility industry by ensuring efficient line clearance services and supporting the company's commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily work for crew after receiving/interpreting orders from a General Foreperson/Line Clearance Supervisor.
  • Conducts field training/retraining, instructing crew on new or revised job units.
  • Enforces safe work practices and conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Discusses with property owner/customer(s) issues such as obtaining access, power interruption, and work to be done.
  • Obtains oral or written permission from property owners to perform required work.
  • Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work.
  • Investigates incident reports and minor damage claims as delegated by the General Foreperson.
  • Maintains accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew operations.
  • Controls crew costs, including effective use of peoplepower and operation of equipment.
  • Furnishes reports on orders completed, crew time, and minor damage repairs.
  • Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Sets up barriers and warning signs to protect employees and the public from hazards.
  • Inspects and makes necessary repairs to tools, truck, and other equipment.
  • Maintains good housekeeping on truck and at work location.
  • Responsible for DOT maintenance and inspection requirements on all required vehicles.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Requires understanding of drawings and symbols representing lines, voltages, and line equipment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to adjust to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
  • Must have no fear of heights.
