About the position

The Gunite Foreperson position at Preferred Materials involves direct supervision of a gunite crew, ensuring that all projects are completed according to specifications and safety regulations. The role requires effective communication with plant supervisors and contractors, as well as the ability to manage work schedules and direct crew activities. The foreperson is responsible for maintaining safety standards and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while performing heavy manual tasks in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of a gunite crew to ensure project completion according to specifications.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Direct and control work schedules provided by the plant supervisor or manager.
• Communicate effectively with plant and contractors regarding project schedules.
• Determine access for job sites and direct equipment to prevent property damage.
• Guide crew members with project details to complete tasks according to blueprints.
• Safely operate power equipment and tools specific to gunite and concrete.
• Report safety violations to the Plant Supervisor.

Requirements

• 2+ years of prior gunite or shotcrete experience is required.
• Working knowledge of construction industry hazards and safety precautions.
• Experience with pneumatically applied concrete and associated safety precautions.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and project specifications.
• Basic understanding of structural concrete principles.
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
• Effective communication skills to direct crew actions.

Nice-to-haves

• ASA Nozzleman Certification is highly desirable.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
