About the position

The Foreperson - Union position at Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring productivity, and enforcing safety protocols among the crew. This role involves managing and mentoring employees, troubleshooting job site issues, and maintaining effective communication with property owners and customers. The Foreperson plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety and compliance with company policies and OSHA specifications, while also coordinating work assignments and conducting training.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily work for the crew after receiving orders from a General Foreperson/Line Clearance Supervisor.
  • Conducts field training/retraining, instructing crew on new or revised job units.
  • Promotes and upholds a culture of safety, applying sound judgment and adhering to company policies.
  • Conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Discusses with property owner/customer issues such as obtaining access and work to be done.
  • Obtains oral or written permission from property owners to perform required work.
  • Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work.
  • Investigates incident reports and settles minor damage claims as delegated.
  • Maintains accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance.
  • Controls crew costs, including effective use of people power and operation of equipment.
  • Furnishes reports of orders completed and crew time to the General Foreperson and utility representative.
  • Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Establishes physical safeguards to protect employees and the public from potential hazards.
  • Makes swift and informed decisions in emergency situations to mitigate risks.
  • Inspects and makes necessary repairs to tools, trucks, and other equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience in the Line Clearance industry is required.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task are required.
  • Ability to adjust to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
  • Must have no fear of heights.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the utility industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices is beneficial.
