The Forest Operations Specialist (I) position is a grant-funded role with the Tuolumne River Trust, based out of the Sonora office. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about forest health and restoration, and it involves a significant amount of fieldwork, approximately 80%, with the remaining 20% dedicated to office tasks. The work schedule is seasonal, primarily following a 4/10s format during peak seasons (March through October), transitioning to a 5/8s schedule during slower months. The term of this position concludes at the end of the season, around late October, with the possibility of rehire for a 10-month benefited position the following year, contingent on performance and organizational needs. In this role, the Forest Operations Specialist will assist in implementing various forest health and restoration projects within the Stanislaus National Forest. Under the guidance of Project Managers, the Specialist will conduct site inspections, assist in project implementation, manage documentation, and perform GIS management tasks. The position involves working closely with the Stanislaus National Forest on restoration efforts, particularly in areas affected by the 2013 Rim Fire and other forest health projects. Responsibilities will include leading tasks related to fuel breaks, forest project monitoring, reforestation, meadow restoration, wildlife surveys, invasive weed removal, native seed collection, and trail rehabilitation.
