The Forestry Aide reporting location is the Contra Solano Sector Office/Mount Diablo State Park, located at 96 Mitchell Canyon Rd., Clayton, CA 94517. The Forestry Aide (FA) will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor or Resource Leads as an essential part of the Mount Diablo Resource Management team. The FA is a subprofessional position involved in the natural resource management of the facilities and natural resources within Mount Diablo State Park including fire and trail management. Under supervision and in compliance with department policies, the FA performs a variety of natural resource management functions requiring varying forms of manual labor work in order to maintain State Park resources. The position will work outdoors under adverse weather conditions, hike over uneven and steep-sloped terrain, and carry heavy equipment. Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, although this position may also work overtime, weekends, holidays, irregular shifts, and work/camp in remote locations based on the program or project needs. While the reporting location and bulk of the work will occur within Mount Diablo State Park, the FA may also work in other state parks within the Diablo Range District at the discretion of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors and is an entryway position into the Forestry Aide series. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. This position requires a valid Class C driver's license.
