About the position

The Land Stewards and Natural Resources Education Coordinator at Oregon State University is a part-time professional faculty position focused on developing and delivering educational programs related to forestry and natural resources in Jackson County. This role involves collaboration with diverse audiences to promote stewardship of Oregon's natural resources through inclusive and equitable educational outreach. The coordinator will work within the Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Program, contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational initiatives while ensuring compliance with civil rights regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Land Stewards Program and other natural resource-related education programs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain educational programming and outreach activities.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in educational offerings.
  • Utilize digital communication tools to engage the community and promote programs.
  • Collaborate with team members and volunteers to enhance program delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field AND two years of natural resources or agriculture experience; OR Bachelor's degree in natural resources, agriculture, or education.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and experience with planning, organizing, and delivering educational programs.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with a broad and diverse audience.
  • General knowledge and ability to use computers, including proficiency with information technology and professional office software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated expertise in land management topics such as fire risk mitigation and water conservation.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Experience developing educational programs and curricula for adults.
  • Experience in using technology as a tool in educational program delivery.
  • Experience working with the Extension Service or delivering non-traditional education.
