About the position
The Airtanker Base Technician operates complex airtanker equipment systems and performs various aviation and ground support activities. This role involves servicing and operating batch mixers, tanks, and related components, as well as mixing, storing, inspecting, testing, and delivering fire retardants. The technician assists in airtanker 'Hot Loading' operations and compiles data for Forestry Service reports. This position is critical for ensuring the readiness and effectiveness of airtanker operations in fire suppression efforts.
Responsibilities
- Operate complex airtanker equipment systems with numerous components that must be synchronized or calibrated.
- Perform aviation and ground support activities, including servicing and operating batch mixers, tanks, and related components.
- Mix, store, inspect, test, and deliver fire retardants to various specifications.
- Assist in airtanker 'Hot Loading' operations.
- Compute, compile, and summarize data for preparation of Forestry Service reports and records.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must be willing to live/work in remote locations.
- Prior wildland firefighting experience is required.
Nice-to-haves
- Valid state driver's license.
- Commercial driver's license (CDL).
- Experience with pre-appointment and random drug testing.
