About the position

The Forge Operator is responsible for operating mechanical hot and cold forge presses to produce forged steel parts. This role involves coordinating the operation of shears and induction heating units, monitoring equipment, and maintaining production and quality records. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and may involve assisting in die changeovers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mechanical hot and cold forge presses to produce forged parts of steel.
  • Coordinate the running of shears to cut bar stock and induction heating units to heat billets before forging operations.
  • Monitor equipment operation and correct minor problems as they arise.
  • Assist Set-Up Technician in die changeovers when necessary.
  • Maintain production and quality records throughout the shift.
  • Ensure assigned work area is clean and orderly during every workday.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Work overtime and weekends as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of forging experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED is necessary.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
