In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer will specifically support the hot forging operation, which is a vital part of the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will possess a four-year technical degree and a minimum of five years of experience in developing and supporting hot forging processes. A strong knowledge of hot forging with screw-type presses is preferred, as this expertise will be essential in troubleshooting and resolving production processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for diagnosing equipment downtime and mechanical issues, working closely with various teams to specify replacement parts and tooling. This position requires a proactive approach to performing root cause investigations and implementing effective resolutions to production-related engineering problems. The engineer will also be tasked with modifying existing processes and routings to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and productivity. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will engage with tooling engineers, maintenance teams, production associates, and quality assurance personnel, as well as participate in cross-functional Lean manufacturing initiatives. This collaborative environment is designed to foster continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support hot forging operations by developing and improving processes.
  • Troubleshoot forging presses, tooling, material, and process issues.
  • Diagnose equipment downtime and mechanical issues.
  • Specify replacement parts and tooling in collaboration with genders.
  • Perform root cause investigations and implement resolutions for production-related engineering problems.
  • Modify existing processes and routings to improve cost, quality, and productivity.
  • Justify capital equipment investments to meet production needs with a focus on technology gains.
  • Collaborate with tooling engineers, maintenance, production associates, and quality teams.

Requirements

  • 4-year technical degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in developing and supporting hot forging processes.
  • Knowledge of hot forging with screw-type presses is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot forging presses and related equipment.
  • Experience in diagnosing equipment downtime and mechanical issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for root cause investigations.
  • Experience in justifying capital equipment for production needs.
