About the position

The Forklift and Building Materials Operator at Weyerhaeuser's Santa Clarita Distribution Center is responsible for the safe movement and handling of materials in the wood products yard/warehouse. This role involves operating forklifts, loading and unloading products, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The position requires manual labor and is primarily outdoors, with a commitment to quality and efficiency in warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain propane or gas forklift to move products from stock lines to staging and/or cut stations.
• Safely load and unload products from various trailers and rail cars.
• Ensure personal safety and the safety of others by intervening in unsafe practices.
• Wear all personal protective equipment as required.
• Accurately perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, and multiplying.
• Accurately count units, record totals, and document shipping and receiving activities.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of building material products and warehouse operations.
• Commit to quality, efficiency, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years' experience working warehouse operations within the wood products/steel industry.
• Forklift certification preferred, but training will be provided.
• Strong planning and organization skills.
• Strong computer skills: MS Outlook, SAP or other WMS.
• Ability to work within a team to solve problems and complete tasks.
• Excellent attendance.
