About the position

The Forklift Operator, Formula plays a crucial role in the warehouse operations of Performance Foodservice. This position involves operating material handling equipment to ensure the efficient flow of products through the distribution process while adhering to safety and quality standards. The operator is responsible for transporting incoming freight, replenishing stock, and maintaining a safe working environment, contributing to the overall success of the company's food distribution system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to transport products.
  • Locate proper storage slots and set pallets in place using forklifts or hand stacking.
  • Perform count checks of incoming freight and transport items to designated areas.
  • Replenish pick slots with outgoing stock items according to work orders.
  • Rotate date-sensitive stock and remove outdated inventory as per company policy.
  • Disperse over-stocked items to available slots for temporary storage.
  • Remove empty pallets and inspect them for damage, stacking them appropriately.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Review work schedules and perform safety checks on equipment before operations.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear during shifts.
  • Meet productivity and accuracy standards as per company guidelines.
  • Inspect items for damage and perform quality checks as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the work area.
  • Replace batteries in equipment and complete vehicle inspection checklists at the end of shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6+ months of warehouse and/or distribution work experience
  • Ability to work scheduled times and required overtime
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Capability to lift, stack, and pull products weighing between 10-90 pounds
  • Ability to work in multi-temperature environments (cooler, freezer, dry)
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of warehouse and/or distribution work experience using a motorized pallet jack or forklift
  • Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
  • Motorized pallet jack and/or forklift certification
