About the position
The Forklift Operator I position at STERIS involves the daily setup and operation of filling and packaging lines in a distribution center. The role is crucial for ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining safety and quality standards. Operators will be responsible for various tasks including equipment setup, minor maintenance, and proper handling of materials, all while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate filling and packaging lines for various products.
- Notify supervisor of the need for packaging supplies or materials.
- Ensure correct hose hookups and operate control panels for material flow.
- Meet production schedules and maintain written and electronic records.
- Train replacements under the supervision of the department supervisor if required.
- Perform setup and minor maintenance of filling line equipment.
- Palletize finished or unfinished products and store them appropriately.
- Exercise caution to avoid damage to materials and ensure safety of other employees.
- Fill, seal, weigh, cap, label, and code products accurately.
- Adjust equipment for different container sizes and weights on filling lines.
- Submit daily production records and other documentation as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area.
- Mark production waste containers as necessary.
- Perform other duties as directed by Leads or Supervisors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with manual liquid filling machines and related equipment.
- Ability to monitor and make routine mechanical adjustments to filling line equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Basic math, writing, and data entry skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with quality and inventory control data gathering.
