About the position

The Forklift Operator Level I is an entry-level position within a manufacturing facility focused on producing quality food products. The role involves receiving, unloading, and storing raw materials, as well as ensuring inventory accuracy and maintaining a clean work environment. The position requires flexibility for overtime and weekend work, particularly during the night shift.

Responsibilities

  • Unload, load, inspect, and relocate raw materials upon receipt in Shipping and Receiving.
  • Pull raw materials and deliver them to production personnel as appropriate.
  • Relocate finished goods to warehouse racks.
  • Pick, stage, and inspect outbound loads and load trailers.
  • Perform raw material returns as needed.
  • Inspect incoming trailers to ensure trailer integrity and temperature meets requirements.
  • Clean and sanitize the work area.
  • Document all transactions to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Receive bulk ingredient, packaging, and raw material items.
  • Assist in conducting cycle counts on raw materials and finished goods.
  • Store and retrieve raw materials and finished goods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area.
  • Report unsafe conditions and work-related accidents to the appropriate personnel.
  • Evaluate hazards and verify measures and procedures for a safe work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and OSHA Regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and interpret data.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in various forms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of plant quality requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of GMP's.
