About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator/Warehouse Associate to join our team in El Paso, TX. This position is crucial for ensuring that our warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment to transport materials and products throughout the facility. The role requires a strong adherence to quality standards and safety protocols, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals. The position is full-time and temporary, with shifts available during the day and evening, and overtime may be required on weekends. As a Forklift Operator/Warehouse Associate, you will be expected to perform quality checks on products and parts as they move through the production process, ensuring they meet Eaton's quality guidelines. You will receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers, fulfilling customer orders in a timely manner. It is essential to closely follow established procedures for completing assigned functions and to perform special assignments or projects as needed. Safety is a top priority, and you will be required to comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur in the production process. You will also support your work area by keeping it clean and organized according to 5S standards and will work effectively as part of a team to complete assignments. This position requires physical stamina, as you will need to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting. Additionally, you will be expected to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas, and you must be willing to become certified in the operation of forklifts, cranes, and yard trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position.
  • Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton's quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process.
  • Perform quality checks as instructed.
  • Receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner.
  • Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned functions and perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.
  • Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.
  • Support assigned work-area clean and organized per 5S standards.
  • Support and work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing, distribution, or military experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur in the production process.
  • Willingness to become certified in the operation of forklifts, cranes, and yard trucks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of Material Handler and/or shipping experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • Two or more years of forklift experience (standup and/or sitdown).
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures related to steel and bus fabrication, purchasing, and materials planning.
  • Broad range of knowledge in materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking.
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word, DMM, AS400, Mapics, Vista, & Outlook.
