About the position

The Form Carpenter Journeyman at MasTec Industrial Corp. is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks, primarily focused on erecting and setting forms for concrete structures. This role requires a high level of skill and experience in reading blueprints, interpreting project plans, and executing tasks with precision to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. The position also involves mentoring less experienced workers and supporting project supervision in various carpentry and construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Journeyman level Carpentry work
  • Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measure, speed square, and framing square
  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions
  • Set and place forms to proper elevations and locations
  • Prepare the base and install proper reinforcing
  • Experience in setting and erecting forms using various materials and forming systems
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials
  • Shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fasten with nails, dowel pins or glue
  • Verify accuracy of structures with plumb bob and carpenter's level
  • Perform general Carpentry tasks such as building and installing barricades, decks, and shelves
  • Form and finish walls, footers, grade beams, etc.
  • Lay out and properly build and place embeds, anchor bolts, etc.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
  • Assist in placing/tying rebar and finishing concrete
  • Disassemble, remove, and clean form materials
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision
  • Direct a small crew and/or mentor Journeyman and Helpers

Requirements

  • 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a Journeyman level role
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with units of weight measurement and volume
